He's a mocker, reviler, and blasphemer.

One of my favorite bloggers, John Shuck, was recently attacked in another blog by one of his fellow Presbyterians. In the subsequent piling on that took place in the comments section of the blog entry, one individual described John this way: "He's a mocker, reviler, and blasphemer."

(For some reason, that reminds me of the scene in the 1964 Beatles movie "A Hard Day's Night", when Ringo was asked by a reporter if he was a mod or a rocker. "I'm a mocker," he responded. But I digress.)

All I can say in response to this is, "John, you must be doing something right."

"Oh, but he is still my man!"

John,

It's really impressive that you've managed to keep your sense of humor this long. Go you. :)

I'm shocked that you don't give credit where credit is due. You can link to a particular comment by copying the URL from underneath (it includes the date and time as here). I have this "thing" about footnoting....

Anyway, if one can shrug off Biblical mandates and laugh at angelic powers, I'm not surprised at keeping a "sense of humor" about the whole thing.

But is he also a picker, a grinner, a lover and a sinner?

I think that depends on whether some people call him the space cowboy, the gangster of love, or just plain Maurice cuz he speaks of the pompitous of love.

By the way, what's a pompitous?

While there is an academic debate as to the proper spelling of pompatus, and its meaning is in equal dispute, I like to think of it as a Latinate diminutive of someone who is really pompous (i.e. somebody a tad on the pompous side - but not so arrogant as to say "'eff off" to the Second Person of the Trinity).

Since Chris apparently no life without me, here is his song to me:

I am Nothing Without You

I'm nothing without you
Without you i lack what it takes
Unless we're combined
I have half a mind
To blow all my chances and breaks

Without you i'm bupkis
A flop who keeps dropping the ball
It's time to stop quaking
Start taking the lead
And you are the singular buddy i need

I'm nothing without you
Without you i'm nothing...

Some people call me the gay cowboy. I wish I knew how to quit you!
