Beyond a theology of physical resurrection

|

Here is a quote from a book I am currently reading:

Sadly, the church has been declaring all those who do not believe in the bodily resurrection of Jesus to be heretics every since. This includes thoughtful, committed Christians who do not believe that Easter has anything to do with the resuscitation of a corpse or believing things you know are not true in order to get rewards you secretly doubt are available. We don't live in a three-story universe anymore, and the disappearance and reappearance of corpses should be left behind with the ideas of demon possession, slavery, and the subordination of women.

Looks an interesting book. Hope to hear some more of your thoughts on it. Desmond Tutu seems to recommend it highly.

I'm liking the book quite a bit so far. The author distills a lot of what other authors in recent years have written (Borg, Crossan, Pagels, Spong, and Matthew Fox), in a way that really ties a lot of it all together.

Hey Mystical

Dont suppose you'd like to sell your copy of 'Saving Jesus From the Church' after reading it ? The bookshop options are very expensive !!

(I'm guessing you've got a big library and keep everything you've read....)

CT,

I'm afraid that this is one book I want to keep in my library. I'm sorry to hear that it would be expensive for you to obtain a copy. I'm not sure what to suggest.
